The Third lesson (sciences)

It’s a Third lesson on my teaching practice. It was on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. In Al Refa’a School. I taught girls from grade 4C Math lesson for 25 minutes. The lesson was about: north/south pole. And the outcome is:  Students will be identify north/south pole. The students was 25 student in class but in this day there were 3 girl absent.

First, I let to students to come to the floor. And I remind them the five highs (eyes on teacher, ears open, mouth close, hands on knees, feet on floor). Then, I put for them the weather in Alain on the smart board from Google website. And I asked them about the weather (what’s the weather today). Second, I chose one student to find the location of UAE in the world map. After that, I put the weather of the Ireland on the smart board and show students the weather on it. Then, we find the location of Ireland in the world map. And I engaged them by asking why UAE is hot while Ireland its too cold? Third, I draw directions for students and the learn them the names of directions. And I focused in north and south. Also, I show them the North and South Pole in world map and we talk about weather on it and the animals like polar bear and beguines. And I explained for students why  the weather in UAE is hot while it in Ireland too cold. Finally I show them video about this topic and about the earth and earth movement around is self and around the sun. Also how the day and night are happen. Finally, I asked students questions about this video.

I think this lesson I very important for students because it’s help them to understand the earth, recognize North and South Pole and the causes of day and night.

I did many positive things in the class like, I started the lesson step by step and I used many things to engage them. I used video in the end of lesson to make sure that students were understood the lesson and help them to understand more. Finally, I related between the lesson and our life.

On the other hand, I faced some problems on my lesson like, they don’t rise their hands and I have some mistakes in the spelling when I wrote on the board. So, I tried to remind students to rise their hands and I chose student who rise her hands only. And I try to focus in spilling more.

The second lesson (math)

It’s a second lesson on my teaching practice. It was on Sunday, November 16, 2014. In Al Refa’a School.  I taught girls from grade 4C Math lesson for 45 minutes again. The lesson was about Doubling/Halving Interactive. And the outcome is:  Students will be able to use represent partitioning to double or halve numbers. The students was 25 student in class but in this day there were 1 girl absent. With presence My MST (Miss Louise) and my MCT (Mr. Serge) to evaluate me when I teach.

I started the lesson at 8:45. First I let them to come to the floor and distributed small white boards. Then, I started by physical examples like: I take one of students and ask them I want make double for this student what I can do? After that, I used smart board and power point to give them examples and explain more. And I let them to work together as a pair in white board. Next, I explained the activities and let them to back to their groups and work. I divided class to four groups by levels and they work on four different work sheets with different learning style and for different levels. And they can use physical things to count like: cups, balls and crystals.  Finally, students back to the floor I put for them game about the lesson double and halve.

I think this lesson is very important for students because it’s help them to learn multiply and divide.

I did many positive things in the class like, I engaged students in the first of lesson by physical examples. I used game in the end of lesson to make sure that students were understood the lesson. Finally, I used different strategy to transition with use different specific words. Like, when I start new activity I said for them : Ready, Ready, Ready and they must to say Yes, Yes , Yes. before I explain the lesson I remind them of five highs and asked them to say it: eyes on teacher, ears open, mouth close, hands on knees, feet on floor.

On the other hand, I faced some problems on my lesson. First problem, I taught two things in one lesson halving and doubling together. So, I confuse how I can explain it for students and I find very difficult for them and for me. Second problem, I make only work sheets in activity because I don’t have long time to prepare. I think students need more physical activity especially weak students.

In the next lesson, I will try to obviate these mistakes. I think that two things in one lesson it’s too much so I must to teach step by step. Also, I will try to make different actives. Physical things, pictures, diagrams and worksheets.

My First Lesson (English)

This is my first lesson in my teaching practice. It was on Thursday, November 13, 2014. In Al Refa’a School.  I taught girls from grade 4C English lesson for 45 minutes. The lesson was about story from their English book and the name of story is (Peter and the wolf). And the outcome is:  students be able to understanding the story, identify a new vocabulary and elicitation meaning and Arrange story events. The students was 25 student in class but in this day there were 5 girls absent. With presence My MST (Miss Louise) and my MCT (Mr. Serge) to evaluate me when I teach.

First, I prepared my lesson plan and my activities from day before and show it Mr. Serge. Then, I began my lesson at 8:45. In begin of my lesson, I let students to stay in the floor. Then, we start listen to the story from the CD. After that, I asked students some question about the story to make sure of they understand the story. For example, where the story happened? Do you think its real or imagination? What the names of the characters? What the favorite event in the story? And why? Next, I explained for students the activities and let them to go to their groups by use move strategy. I divided class to four groups by levels. And I focus in my activities on different learning style. Students who have a low level they will Order the events of story. Students who have middle level they will draw the favorite event from story and write what the favorite event and why. Students who have high level will act story by puppets. Finally, I let them to come back to the floor by down count strategy. And I put for students pictures and words from story and chose students to match them. Also, I asked them what did they learn from story and did they like it or not.

I think this lesson I very important for students because it’s help them to learn new vocabulary and learn them reading by interesting way.

I did many positive things in the class like, I used different activities to explain for them the story and it's appropriate with different learning style for example: I use CD for auditory students, puppets for kinetic students and match words and pictures for visual students. Also, I used different strategy to transition with use different specific words. For example, to move from floor to the groups I choose group by group by levels and let them to go. Also, when they finish the activities I remind them that they are 5 minute left. Then, I count down to finish clean up and come to the floor. After that, I used bell to start a next activity. More over, I managed the classroom and students by right way.

On the other hand, I faced some problem in my lesson. First, I lose time in the beginning of the lesson. Also, students didn't understand some words and questions. For example when I asked what the favorite event in the story? They can’t answer because they don’t understand the word (event). More over, I forgot the names of some students.

In the next lesson, I will try to obviate these mistakes. I will try to find another ways to explain what I mean if they don’t understand me, or find more easy words. Also I will try to be more disciplined on time. And finally I will save the students name to make them feel more friendly and comfortable.
