It’s a Third lesson on my teaching
practice. It was on Wednesday, November 19, 2014. In Al Refa’a School. I taught girls from grade 4C Math lesson for 25 minutes. The lesson was about: north/south pole. And the outcome is: Students will be identify north/south pole. The students was 25 student in class
but in this day there were 3 girl absent.
First, I let to students to come to
the floor. And I remind them the five highs (eyes on teacher, ears open, mouth close, hands on knees, feet on floor). Then, I put for them the weather in Alain on the smart board from Google website. And I asked them about the weather (what’s the weather today). Second,
I chose one student to find the location of UAE in the world map. After
that, I put the weather of the Ireland on the smart board and show students the
weather on it. Then, we find the location of Ireland in the world map. And I engaged them by asking why UAE is hot while Ireland its too cold? Third,
I draw directions for students and the learn them the names of directions. And
I focused in north and south. Also, I show them the North and South Pole in
world map and we talk about weather on it and the animals like polar bear and
beguines. And I explained for students why the weather in UAE is hot while it in Ireland too cold. Finally I show them video about this topic and about the earth and earth
movement around is self and around the sun. Also how the day and night are
happen. Finally, I asked students questions about this video.
I think this lesson I very important for
students because it’s help them to understand the earth, recognize North and South Pole and the causes of day
and night.
I did many positive things in the class like, I
started the lesson step by step and I used many things to engage them. I used video in the
end of lesson to make sure that students were understood the lesson and help
them to understand more. Finally, I related between the lesson and our life.
On the other hand, I faced some problems on my lesson
like, they don’t rise their hands and I have some mistakes in the spelling when
I wrote on the board. So, I tried to remind students to rise their hands
and I chose student who rise her hands only. And I try to focus in spilling
more.
Hi Maitha
ReplyDeleteI read your Lesson reflection and you did grate work as first year students and don't worry about children if they not raise their hands maybe they feel you are new teacher and they still shay but after that they will learn more about you and about your rules. But at the same time you have to broke the afraid and shy and to motivate and encourage them to participate with you. I advice you to use Class Dojo or chart or any idea to help them to interaction in class because sometime children know the information but they need who encourage them and the other children maybe have low level but if you use as these things they will start to participate even their answer is wrong.
My regards, Sharifa
How are you Maitha I have interesting with your reflection and I hop you are successful in your next reflections.
